ANMT's Musical Theatre Boot Camp is
a summer series of workshops, lectures, and practicums designed to give
participants a chance to work quickly over a concentrated six week period.
It's also a great place to check us out before committing to our full curriculum
in the fall.
The 2008 Boot Camp will take place
between July 7 and August 17.

ADVANCED LYRIC LAB
Instructor: Scott Guy
For graduates of the Lyric Lab, the ‘Advanced Lyric Lab’ builds on lyric fundamentals, and covers topics such as: The Verse, Chorus and Refrain; Euphony; Simile, Metaphor and the Philosophy of Metaphor; Advanced Prosody, Linear Prosody and Conversational Prosody; Twist Songs and List Songs.

SUMMER BOOK LAB
Instructor: Elise Dewsberry
A concentrated version of the full Book Lab curriculum offered as part of ANMT's Core program, with an assignment a week instead of an assignment a month. (If you're planning to take the Core program, this course will fulfill your Lab requirement). Topics covered will include: structure, dramatic action, dialogue, spotting songs, adaptation, and an introduction to the all-important craft of outlining.

SUMMER LYRIC LAB

A concentrated version of the full Lyric Lab offered as part of ANMT's Core Curriculum, with a unit a week instead of a unit a month. Topics covered will include: prosody, structure, rhyme, character through diction, spotting songs, and progressions. Lectures and tests are delivered online; the in-person meetings are for discussion of assignments.

OUTLINING LAB

Nothing is more important to a musical than the outline. Peter Stone used to say that the book is the structure of the evening. Go from idea to final outline in five weeks, one guided step every week.

GETTING YOUR #&*! MUSICAL PRODUCED

This practical workshop is designed for writers, performance artists, and aspiring producers, and will show you how to take a proactive role in the production of your musical. Telling producers that your new musical is a winner is not enough. Show them!! Once a musical is on its feet it can start a buzz and attract professional attention. In one evening you will go through the various levels of production and gain the tools for your own producing options - readings, workshops, and the AEA 99-seat plan -- everything from finding a venue, creating budgets, raising money, organizing & hiring a staff, casting, production schedules, and marketing. Also covered will be self-publishing options, which include - an overview of the lucrative Play Publishing market, setting up a publishing company to exploit your musical, and creating an effective submission package.

AUDITION MONOLOGUE WORKSHOP INTENSIVE

Learn the skills and create choices to have your contemporary monologue really come alive in the room when auditioning. Bring in a memorized contemporary one minute monologue appropriate for your age and type. Bring a highlighter, pencil and notepad for further notes.

Producers' Lab
Instructor: Gordon P. Firemark
Entertainment Attorney and Producer Gordon Firemark presents a six-session course in the nuts and bolts of producing theatrical entertainment. The course will follow a hypothetical production through its life cycle, from Idea to book/libretto through budgets, financing & production to opening night, closing, transfer and touring. Participants will receive useful handouts, worksheets, checklists and basic contract forms for reference in producing their own projects. ALL registrants (whether ANMT members or not) can book the Member Fee of $395 until December 15. After December 15, the course fee will be $495.
