The Academy Repertory Company (ARC) is a membership-based ensemble of professional sight-singing actors dedicated to developing new works for the musical theatre.

In addition to working with ANMT on the development of new works for producers across the country, ARC also regularly produces concert readings of new musicals, including
the annual winner of the SEARCH FOR NEW MUSICALS.

ANMT DEVELOPMENT: This show was developed as part of the ANMT Full Length Curriculum program in the 2007-08 season, was a STAGES 2008 Finalist, was part of the 2007-08 ANMT Concert Reading Series, and received a developmental production at the Secret Rose Theatre in the summer of 2009 (GLAAD Media Award Nomination), selected by Stephen Schwartz for the 2010 Disney/ASCAP Musical Theatre Workshop, and received a world premiere production at the NoHo Arts Center in the summer of 2010.

ANMT DEVELOPMENT: Bonnie and Clyde first came to the Academy's attention at the 2005 Songwriters Showcase at the NAMT Festival in New York. ANMT then workshopped the piece and provided extension feedback and brokered a national coaliltion of producers interested in the piece. After a successful reading in New York and a huge success at the New York Musical Theatre Festival, the Academy presented Bonnie and Clyde in a concert reading at the Colony Theatre, followed by an all-day session with the authors.

In this ghost town,
the past always comes back to haunt you.

ANMT DEVELOPMENT: Ghost-s was developed as part of the Academy for New Musical Theatre's producer-driven initiative. In producer-driven projects, the staff at ANMT put together a creative team and help develop a musical for the specific needs of a particular producer, in exchange for a promise of a public staged reading of the completed show and the option of a first production. Ghost-s began as a 'commission' from the Lyric Theatre in Hollywood as an adaptation of Ibsen's Ghosts.

ANMT DEVELOPMENT: The Academy developed Now and Then a Hero for the Colony Theatre using its classic model: idea, outline, 15-minute presentation and first draft. The Colony Theatre presented a public concert reading of the work. It was a STAGES semi-finalist in 2008. In 2010, a new draft was presented by the Montana Rep as part of the Missoula Colony Festival.
