We want what's best for your musical. Often we'll steer you towards our least expensive option, which is a few hours of dramaturgical feedback. But perhaps you're looking for some in-depth line-by-line and measure-by-measure feedback on the lyrics and score as well; if that's the case, you'll want our three-person staff table readings -- one staff member for each of book, music and lyrics. We're also experts at putting on concert readings, whether they're informal readings in our own space, or more formal ones in a theatre. But nine times out of ten we advise the more informal, less expensive options.
Got an idea for a musical, but you want to do some small-scale workshop version before deciding whether you want to produce it? We've created a business model based on the old movie studio model: the producer is in charge. We'll find you lyricists, bookwriters and composers (unless you have some you already want to work with). We'll then support the musical from idea through outline and present you with fifteen minutes' worth. If you like what you see, we'll keep supporting the work with actors, music directors, directors, and dramaturgs, in return for which at the end of the day, you produce a public reading. No obligation for production.
Synopses, scores, samples, mp3's, authors' bios of an elite selection of musicals we have developed over the past few seasons.Click here to visit the catalog.
Headshots and resumes of actors who sing, and singers who act. Some actors have posted audio and video reels as well. Please note that the Academy has not auditioned everyone on this roster, so we can't vouch for everyone listed here. We would urge you to audition these artists before hiring them.
Broadway writers and producers, Los Angeles artistic directors, independent producers, entertainment attorneys, all gathered together for a jam-packed weekend devoted to musical theatre...great for networking! ANMT hosted the conference in 2006, 2008, and 2010, and next up will be the 2012 conference. Drop us an email at academy@anmt.org if you'd like to be part of the conference, either as a participant, or if you'd like us to consider you as one of our panelists.
Would you like to see what musicals we're developing! We have a Concert Reading Series, festivals, readings, an annual 1000 Minutes of Musical Theatre and many one-off concerts. If you're a producer, drop us an email to academy@anmt.org we'll make sure you hear about our events.
